Journey Health Foundation will invest in a wide range of community health initiatives, specifically those that can address long-standing disparities throughout our region. We will do this by taking a data-driven approach to finding and funding projects that may include health care services as well as access to food, affordable housing, transportation, and other critical resources.

What is Journey Health Foundation doing for our region?

As one of Tennessee's largest healthcare foundations, we are fortunate to have the resources to address these problems in a thorough and systematic way. We do this by building strong community partnerships, supporting remarkable local leaders, and using data to better understand why disparities in local health outcomes exist and what we can do to address them.

Our Focus

Journey Health Foundation will invest in addressing the differences in the social determinants of health and the long-standing disparities throughout our region to ensure progress toward health equity so that everyone in our community has the opportunity to attain their highest level of health. Social determinants of health (SDOH) have been shown to have a greater influence on health than either genetic factors or access to healthcare services. 

SDOH are a multifaceted public health problem, which provides an opportunity for collaboration with many sectors which Journey Health Foundation will do this by taking a data-driven approach to finding partners and projects that may include not only health care services but also access to food, affordable housing, transportation, and other critical resources.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga today announced a transformative $3.5 million gift and research grant from the Journey Health Foundation to establish a Research Center for Health and Economic Analytics within the Gary W. Rollins College of Business.
